Cathedral Window Ornament

IMG_2713One of my good friends just gave me this cute Cathedral Window Ornament that is now hanging on my Christmas tree.   It has a little stuffing, tufted with a button and hung with a ribbon.IMG_2702.jpg-bI love the little tree print she used for the inside of the window.  Tiny, tiny Christmas trees!  It is important to have good contrast between all of the fabric choices so all the detail work can be seen.IMG_2705
IMG_2707As you can see from the photo below she used just one piece of fabric rather than making a Cathedral Window block for the back– just as pretty!IMG_2706I am not sure where she got her pattern but found one that sounds like what she used.  It is called a pin cushion but you could put a little less stuffing in to make this ornament.  The size of the original square is what she said hers was too so I know it is probably pretty close to how she made mine.

Ornament Gift–Patchwork Cardinal

IMG_7990One of my good friends made this very cute tree ornament and gave it to me this Christmas.  She said she had a kit for one then made more with the same instructions and her fabric.  I love, love, love it.

Spool Ornament Giveaway Win

IMG_6019I feel so very lucky…I won another blog giveaway.  Can you believe it?  This time the giveaway was from MarveLes Art Studios and I won this beautiful beaded and yarn covered antique spool.  The pink shear fabric makes a nice place to put the hanger so it can be hung on the Christmas tree.  I intend to hang it in my sewing room once Christmas is over...no hiding in a box until next Christmas for this ornament.

I am thrilled to win this wonderful spool ornament but also thrilled to own a piece of Leslie’s beautiful art.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Check out her Etsy shop for more beautiful spools, garlands and quilts that you can purchase and make your own.

Today’s Ornament

IMG_0609The ornament I am showing today is one that my in-laws gave us for our first Christmas together.  It is a clear glass ball with a gold foil angel hanging inside.  It isn’t anything expensive or maybe even remarkable but it is special because Mary and Merlin gave it to us.  It has a special place on the tree each year and has hung on a tree in our house now for 39 years.

Using Windows Live Writer again….let me know how it is showing up for you and how you like it.

Hear the carols, smell the hot chocolate, taste the goodies  and prepare your heart for Christmas.
